Apple Music Previews ‘Planet of the Apps’ TV Show

After launching their own music streaming service in June of 2015, it seems as if Apple isn’t holding themselves back from taking on new endeavors. On Monday, Eddy Cue spoke at the Re-Code Media conference to discuss the newest venture the company has on its agenda. It appears that Apple Music subscribers will also have access to exclusive content from Apple as well as their enormous selection of music.

Back in July of 2016, Apple first made news by purchasing the rights to James Corden’s infamous Carpool Karaoke, but now – alongside that show – will be their newest creation, Planet of the Apps. Launching sometime in the spring, the show is similar to Shark Tank and will bring on app developers to have them pitch their ideas in hopes of having them funded for $10 million. From the promo ad, we see stars, like  Jessica Alba, Will.i.am, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Gary Vaynerchuck, taking on as advisors.

In a world of evergrowing mobile devices and user engagement, the world needs people who can create these different ideas. In the preview, Will.i.am says, “developers are the rockstars of right now,” and it’s cool that even celebrities acknowledge the power of educating people with coding abilities.

Now that Apple seems to be adding more to their plans, will you make the move from Spotify or other music services? What do you think about “content exclusivity?” This will likely also mean a price increase but that has yet to be confirmed.

Check out the previews to both of Apple’s new shows and let us know what you think of them.
