Heading into a big weekend of NFL playoff games, ESPN brought in celebrity guests to give their thoughts on who they think we could expect to see go up against each other for Super Bowl LI. Famous rapper, Big Boi, was interviewed on Friday by anchor Cari Champion, and things got awkward rather quickly after a witty reference to rap group, Migos, from Cari.
It all happened when she used a popular song, titled “Bad and Boujee,” to mention Big Boi’s dog, Halle Berry. She asked Big Boi, “Is she bad or is she boujee?” to which he quickly and straight forwardly responded, “She’s dead.” The world seemed to have stopped for Cari Champion as she gasped and began to apologize for not knowing the tragic news about his dog.
It was an honest mistake on her part, but the curse of live television is the fact that you have to be prepared for absolutely anything that could turn your interview around. It takes a team to make a live television show go exactly as planned, but sometimes the tiniest of details can slip through producers’ hands. In an effort to bring pop culture into sports, one person had to sit on live television and suffer through the embarrassment.
This song currently sits at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, and the it has been the biggest hit of 2017 thus far.
