ESPN Streaming Service Launching Spring 2018

ESPN Streaming Service Launching Spring 2018

New updates will be coming to your ESPN app this spring.

On Monday, ESPN CEO Bob Iger announced ESPN Plus will be available for $4.99/month. According to TechCrunch, this new update will lead the redesign of the ESPN app in three parts – scores and news, live streaming via cable authentication, and ESPN Plus.

With ESPN Plus, subscribers will gain access to live sports programming, the 30 for 30 series and other original and new programs. This could lead to future production of exclusive original content for Plus subscribers. The biggest caveat of this streaming service will be that it won’t include streaming of main channels such as ESPN and ESPN 2, but it’ll be interesting to see if viewers will be enticed.

Back in August, Disney announced it would be ending its deal with Netflix to start its own ESPN streaming service. This is the first time ESPN has offered its own independent, multi-sport plan that doesn’t already come packaged with services like Hulu or SlingTV.

Would you be willing to pay $4.99 for access to ESPN content? Let us know in the comments below!
