What seemed to be a normal late night broadcast of Jimmy Kimmel Live ended up bringing people – and even Jimmy – to tears.
Jimmy Kimmel took time from his regularly scheduled show to speak on a serious subject regarding the health of his newborn son and recent political activity revolving around health insurance policies.
In a very emotional monologue, Kimmel described the heart disease that his son was diagnosed with just a few hours after labor. After an emotional rollercoaster, Jimmy spoke on the heroic efforts of the medical teams that helped he and his family get the help they needed for their newborn son.
Ultimately, this scary moment in his life led him to bring up the recent political happenings with regards to healthcare. Kimmel discusses that partisanship shouldn’t affect decisions on basic necessities, such as healthcare.
“There are no teams – we are the team,” said Kimmel. “The United States needs to take care of each other.”
He finished up by saying, “No parent should ever have to decide if they can afford to save their child’s life; not here.”
