We’ve all been there before. You see something on your timeline and it rubs you the wrong way, so you respond. But at some point you have to step away from your phone and realize what you’re getting yourself into.
Dan Dakich of ESPN found himself on the hot seat once again for ticking someone off on Twitter. It all started when Dakich tweeted about a controversial topic regarding compensation for NCAA athletes. As a former student-athelete, NCAA coach and father to a college basketball player, some would say he’s been around the block before. Frank Kaminsky, power forward for the Charlotte Hornets and former University of Wisconsin basketball player, didn’t quite agree with him though. Kaminsky offered his rebuttal to the statement made by Dan Dakich, and the rest went a little something like this:
NCAA..only place 18-24 yr old Athletes make $20,000 to $60,000 for 20 hr a week work only 8 hrs work in the summer months and r "exploited"

— Dan Dakich (@dandakich) April 3, 2017
Cause I got to where I was by putting in minimum effort at every single stage. Sound logic. Who could argue with that one?!?! https://t.co/XqTsiad187
— Hippo Kaminsky III (@FSKPart3) April 3, 2017
And you got paid handsomely at 18-24 for 20plus hours a week good for you!! On Wisconsin.. https://t.co/872QYBaMJ9
— Dan Dakich (@dandakich) April 3, 2017
No. I didn't get paid. I left there with no money and still owed rent through my lease. Actually lost money. Glad I was good at bball tho… https://t.co/phgMQ75OeM
— Hippo Kaminsky III (@FSKPart3) April 3, 2017
Sure ya did..that's on you ..not one player in 28 yrs of coaching including my son left like that..but being a victim sells.. https://t.co/um4HkFJLjB
— Dan Dakich (@dandakich) April 3, 2017
1. There might be a "20 hour restriction" on college athletes… that argument is complete garbage.
— Hippo Kaminsky III (@FSKPart3) April 3, 2017
2. I never asked to be paid when I was in college. I just wanted to capitalize on my image/likeness while my name was big.
— Hippo Kaminsky III (@FSKPart3) April 3, 2017
Probably should have..but how much goes to U of Wisky for their part in ur "name being big"? https://t.co/3TQqPmgf1d
— Dan Dakich (@dandakich) April 4, 2017
3. Education was a factor of why I chose to go to UW. But basketball was always my priority. I can handle bad grades, but not bad games.
— Hippo Kaminsky III (@FSKPart3) April 3, 2017
4. This may be offensive but you cannot compare the lives of student-athletes to regular students. Lives aren't similar in the slightest bit
— Hippo Kaminsky III (@FSKPart3) April 3, 2017
5. If free education is the compensation… could I have turned that down and just played for the team?
— Hippo Kaminsky III (@FSKPart3) April 3, 2017
6. I really need to start my own podcast. I can't fit all my thoughts into this forum. Goodnight twitter.
