Dubai Set to Launch Passenger Drones Throughout the City

While America is flying 500 drones in the sky, Dubai is on a whole, new level.

It’s no secret that the city of Dubai is always on the cutting edge and leading the world in future technology. Their most recent project to come out is pilot-less drones.

Ehang 184 is a human-sized drone that looks to help people avoid the burden of sitting through traffic to get to their destinations. Debuting at CES 2016, the pilot-less drone is a human-sized version of the popular technology that we are now accustomed to seeing flying in the sky; it features autopilot technology so you won’t have to worry about maneuvering through cities on your own. As far as limits, the drone itself will be able to carry anyone up to 100KG along with a small briefcase and has a battery life of 30 minutes of flight time.

Dubai’s Transportation and Road Agency says that we will see these drones take off as soon as July of this year. It’s exciting to see that companies are already advancing drones to more than just a camera rig or a toy. The possibilities are endless, and it would be amazing to see transportation businesses utilize this technology to more and more cities.

Would you ever trust a drone to get you from one place to another? Is it too soon to be introducing pilot-less transportation in the drone industry? Give us your opinion, and check out the promotional video above.
